I'm back ... to you!

After a few weeks of quiet from my blog, I finally have the chance to write something. So let's get down to work. How about a nice song by Lighthouse Family to get started!

Before listening:

1. Vocabulary:

Do you know the meaning of these love-related words and expressions?

- love at first sight.
- to have a crush on sb.
- lovesick.
- unrequited love.
- infatuation.
- cupboard love.

2. Now check this link to learn more about love vocabulary.

While listening: You are going to listen to one of my favourite songs by Lighthouse Family. It's called 'I could have loved you'. Listen carefully and fill in the gaps.

Far too many things have come between
Where we are now, where we, could have been
Sometimes a ____________, comes once
And then it goes, right out the window
Now the truth, shines through
I could have loved you...

Chorus
Now I know what a terrible mistake I´ve made
Now I know, this ___________ still around
Now I know just what a selfish little __________ I've been
Now I know for sure this love will never go
Hey
There must have been a way that, I could have loved you more
Now I know, there must have been a day when, I could have loved you more

Far too many times I __________ you __________
With the ____________ , of a typical clown
Selfish through and through
I told more than a few _____________ lies, without a grain of truth
But you could see, right through, I could have loved you

Chorus

Now I know, there must have been a way that, I could have you loved more
Now I know, there must have been a day when, I could have loved you more
Now I know what a terrible mistake I´ve made
Now I know, this ____________ still around
Now I know just what a selfish little ____________ I've been
Now I know for sure this love will never go

Hey
There must have been a way that, I could have loved you more
Now I know, there must have been a day when, I could have you loved more
Now I know, there must have been a way that, I could have you loved more

Post-listening: Questions for oral discussion. You can post your comments on the blog:

- Have you ever had a crush on somebody?
- Have you ever hated loving someone?
- Does your first love still hold a special place in your heart?
- Do you believe that he or she will always have a special place in your heart?

NEW LINK

Hi everybody,
Here's a good link for you to practice not only your listening skills but also pronunciation. Do you remember what I told you about 'shadow reading'? Well, this is your site to do it.
Listen to the video chosen first and then turn the volume down (if you can listen to the speaker in the recording, it's fine because it will guide you). So play it again but this time you talk along with it in exactly the same way as the speakers, taking on their accents. If you turn the volume down completely, you will be dubbing the text.
Hope you like it!

ARE YOU A PC OR A MAC?

Hi there,

We are about to start our next module, which is on technology, so let's get the ball rolling! Here's a Mac advert where a comparison between a PC and a MAC is established. It's also a good way to review the vocab studied on module 3, which was about work, remember?
How many of the words studied in class can you identify?

By the way, Mitchell and Webb are 2 great comedians!
